Getting To Know You

In High School, students need guidance in a number of areas in their life, including which courses to take, which career paths to explore, which colleges or trade programs to pursue, how to manage stress, and how to maneuver complicated social situations.

I help students navigate these complexities. One of the biggest decisions you will have to start making in high school is which career or major you want to pursue after graduation. If you aren’t sure what you want to do yet, I will help you discover your core purpose. I strive to lend an unbiased, helpful ear when sitting with students and their families. Sometimes the student’s dreams clash with the dreams their parents have for them. This can cause some tension and having a third-party ear and insight can help the parents and children understand each other better.

As an independent higher education counselor, I do not work for any high school, college, or University. I work for the student and their family, allowing me to spend more time with the student than they can get from their high school counselor. I not only help students make better-informed college selection choices, but also help ensure that students have the best level of insight into how to mentally and academically prepare for their college careers.

During our initial consultation, I will get to know you and your family thoroughly. Way too often do student’s go off to college without a clear plan, or a plan that is not the best fit for the student. This leads to changed majors, wasted credits, and wasted money. I will help you discover your core purpose and help you write down your goals with a very strategic plan to meet them. Together we will map out the best plan for your career and education needs.

I aim to help students make more informed and better educational and career choices. Among other things, I offer information on high school course offerings, career options, the type of academic and occupational training needed to succeed in the workplace, and post-secondary opportunities that are associated with their field of interest.

By hiring a professional independent higher education counselor, students are able to manage the various stressful challenges of the college application process with a much clearer state of mind. It isn’t just the logistics of college applications that can intimidate students, but also the anxiety associated with being uncertain about just what college has in store for them as their next major phase of life.
